A little bit about global warming that you may want to know about.

Well, I would just like to tell you a little bit about global warming before I get into anything else. Here you go:

Many scientists believe human-caused pollution is making the world a warmer place, a process called global warming. Scientists also think pollution could contribute to a rise in the Earth’s surface temperature over the next 100 years. A warmer world could mean big trouble. Hotter temperatures are causing some ice at the North and South Poles to melt and the oceans to rise. The warmer climate is changing our weather patterns and could result in dangerous tornadoes and droughts.
Climatic modeling studies generally estimate that global temperatures will rise a few degrees Celsius in the next century. Such a warming is likely to raise sea levels by expanding ocean water and melting glaciers and the polar ice cap. Recent studies have predicted that changes in global temperatures will introduce new infectious diseases, cause species of animals to become extinct, intensify storms, and increase the likelihood of droughts and floods.

How can we help stop global warming?

This is a very difficult thing to do. We have to try to stick together and work this out. We can’t just not do anything to help the earth. If we want our great, great, great, great (etc) grand kids to live here, we have to do something about this. We have to work together as a society to figure this out. Here are a few ways to help stop this:
1. Cars- This may seem a bit crazy, but the first thing that we have to do is discontinue gas cars, trucks, SUVs and such. We have to figure out a way to make all cars hybrids. This means less gas used, which means, lower gas prices, and less pollution in the air. The thing that bothers me is, people don’t like hybrids because they don’t go very fast. Well, I have to say, get over it, personally. Maybe sometime in the future, they might find a way to make these cars faster than they are now. With the depleting ozone layer and the UV rays that get so much stronger as we speak, tons and tons people are going to have skin cancer it is beyond belief, plus, this may also sound crazy, but Antarctica's ice is going to melt, creating a worldwide flood. And all of this is happening because of the gas powered car. Think about it for a minute. Do you know what the muffler blows out? It blows out fumes from the gas. Those fumes pollute the atmosphere which goes back to a depleting the ozone layer. Just think, It may seem like “How can I, this one person out of millions upon millions of people with cars, make a difference by switching to a hybrid car? Well I have an answer for you. So many other people are making the change, so why can’t you? Soon enough you, that one person, will have helped the world a great deal by switching. One person, can do so much in the long run. Please try to stop using gas guzzlers like: Hummers, and such. There is no need for such a big monstrosity. So, if you are thinking about buying a car, try to make your next one a hybrid.
You might also ask to yourself, when gas powered cars get discontinued, there will still be tons and tons of them on the road won’t there? Well, yes and no. We all have to understand, that sooner or later, cars are going to break down and it's not going to be able to get the parts that it needs, so it is going to have to get demolished in some way. If this whole thing does happen, after about 20 years or so, almost every gas powered car will be off the road and hybrids will be on the road. So, think about it, you can be one less person that is hurting the world every day. We all know...I know, that this is going to be hard to stop, but if we put our minds to something that is important to us, sooner or later, it’s probably going to happen….only if we try hard enough that is.
2. Smoke Stacks/factories - This is really hard to do but its one of the biggest global warming creating substances. Smoke. When most factories emit smoke from the smokestacks, the smoke pollutes the atmosphere in large amounts at a time. We need to find some way to contain this smoke and get rid of it without releasing any of it into the atmosphere. Scientists are working long and hard to try to stop global warming, so why not figure out how to contain and rid of smoke? If we created something that did this it would halt global warming by at least 30%.
3. Trees - Trees are also a very big part in this. In the process of photosynthesis, trees and plants create oxygen for us to breathe and replenish the atmosphere from some of the pollution. While we are cutting down trees to build houses, industrial parks, buildings, and so on, we are hurting the earth even more. Now I may sound like some kind of a a tree hugger right now, but this is very big. We can’t just let trees be cut down in the absolute necessity of a house. There are already people out there protesting on this subject, and I’m happy they are. Everything comes at a price to pay and this one of those trillion dollar ones. We have to be aware that these things are happening. People just sit out there and don’t even care while other people are working very hard to stop this. In my prospective, there are three kinds of people: The person who doesn't care and does nothing to stop this, the person who is just nutral, that thinks about it but doesn't do anything and the last one, is the person who actually tries/helps stop this from happening. Which one are you?
Some of you may say “We can just grow the trees back and everything will be all fine and dandy” Well, to say that is defiantly something to keep in mind. Just because you might think everything is fine and dandy, doesn't mean that everything is going to come your way. We can’t just keep saying this without thinking of some of the consequences first. Also, if you didn't already know this, cutting down trees can kill some animals and make them become extinct. You may not think so now, but some animals rely on some trees and plants for shelter and for food. How would you like it if someone just picked up your house and pulled it away. That happens, and it’s called “fore-closer”(they don't exactly pick it up, but they take it away from you) , it may not have happened to you before, but if it didn't, what would you do, with no place to live? So pretend you are an animal for a second. You think that you have found the best tree in the forest, you built shelter there and you put so much hard work into it, and then all of a sudden, a big guy with an axe comes in, chops down your tree that you worked so hard on and drags it away to some unforgiven place. How would you feel. Now, think about this, in a human's perspective. You think you found the most fancy house in town. You put in new flooring, you paint the walls so elegantly, you have a 120" plasma in your room, automated....everything and more. So, once you have put as much work into it as you possibly can, all of a sudden a little guy with a briefcase comes in and takes your house away from you. Doesn't it sound just a BIT similar? Now, if any of you have had this happen to you, you know how this feels. If you don’t, it feels, terrible, absolutely horrible, you just want to scream as load as you can into that little guy's ear. Then you have to try to survive without shelter for a while until you can find a smaller home you can actually afford. Well, the same type of thing happens to the animal that lived in that tree. Think, every other tree is occupied with other animals so now this one animal has to survive on the ground, no shelter, no nothing. I hope after all of this, you see what I mean. It’s cruel. So, please stop.

Contribute to the planet, and your town!

Another way to help the planet, is to pick up some of the litter that you may see on the side of the street, on the grass, or wherever, and put it in the trash or the recycle bin. The whole reason for this is because if you just leave the trash on the ground, after a while the trash "recycles itself" into the earth. You may think, well if it recycles itself, why would I need to put it in the trash or recycle bin anyway? Well, the reason for this is because when it recycles itself, the chemicals from the item that was on the ground, go into the soil of the earth and once it gets it there, the soil becomes "unfertilized" and it admits the chemicals into the air, which causes pollution in the air (also in part of ozone layer depletion).
Plus, in the process of doing this you can make your city look a bit nicer than it may have started! :)

Recycling

Recycling may not seem like such a big thing, but it really can be to our world. What happens in this process is, when you separate the recyclable items from your regular trash, and put it outside to be picked up, the “program” that picks it up, brings the plastic, paper, or whatever to the warehouse and the items are processed through a machine. After they are processed, the program sells the materials to another company to use for one of their items. This seems like a long process, and yes it is. It can be a fairly long process, but not for you. All that you have to do is separate your plastic, paper, and cans from your regular trash, and put it out for the people to take it away for you. All the time this takes is a simple five minutes. If you don’t do this already, I suggest that you should, because this is a very important part to global warming weather you think so or not!

Pollution

Pollution is the contamination of air or water by harmful substances. One source of pollution is hazardous waste—anything thrown away that could be dangerous to the environment, such as paint and pesticides. These materials can seep into water supplies and contaminate them…NOT GOOD.

The ozone layer…what it is, and what is happening to it

The ozone layer, a thin sheet of an invisible gas called ozone, surrounds Earth about 15 miles above its surface. Ozone protects us from the Sun’s harmful rays. In recent years, the amount of ozone in the atmosphere has decreased, probably due to human-made gases called chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). As the ozone level decreases, the Sun’s rays become more dangerous to humans, causing skin cancer. Soon enough we are going to need high leveled UV ray sun screen!
